Role Description This is a part-time, hybrid Landscape Designer role based in Orange, CA, with flexibility for some work-from-home tasks. The Landscape Designer will develop conceptual and detailed landscape plans, including planting plans and hardscape layouts, that align with project goals, site conditions, and client preferences. Day-to-day responsibilities include site analysis and measurements, preparing drawings and digital models, selecting plant species and materials, and coordinating design details with project leads. The role also involves preparing presentation boards, revising designs based on feedback, assisting with cost estimates, and supporting coordination with contractors and vendors. The Landscape Designer will collaborate closely with the studio team, occasionally attend site visits and client meetings, and ensure that designs reflect the studio’s emphasis on context, sustainability, and visual harmony.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in landscape-focused disciplines, including Landscape Design and Landscape Architecture.
- Practical experience planning outdoor environments, including Landscaping and development of Planting Plans.
- Knowledge of Hardscape design elements such as paving, walls, paths, and outdoor structures.
- Proficiency with design and drafting tools, construction detailing (e.g., AutoCAD, LandFX, Bluebeam, Rhino, SketchUp, Revit, or similar) and basic graphic presentation skills (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent). Ability to put full construction plans together in the DD and WD phase of a project

- Familiarity with California native plants, climate-responsive design, and sustainable landscape practices.
- Strong spatial thinking, attention to detail, and ability to translate concepts into clear drawings and documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to incorporate feedback and manage multiple tasks on a part-time schedule.
- Relevant education in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a related field; internship or studio experience is required.
