Our internship program is designed with future leaders in mind and serves as a pipeline for top talent. The HR Communications & Engagement Intern role supports internal communications, employee engagement, and event execution in partnership with the Human Resources team. As an HR Communications and Engagement Intern, you’ll contribute to projects that support employee connection, recognition, and communication across the organization, working alongside HR partners in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
As part of the experience, you will be involved in key projects that will provide exposure to the following:
Employee Engagement & Events
- Assist in planning and executing employee engagement initiatives and events (e.g., summer celebrations, recognition programs, wellness activities, Excellence for All events).
- Support development of project plans with timelines and milestones; assist with logistics for in-person and hybrid events.
- Create event-related communications (email invitations, SharePoint posts, digital signage) and apply branding and design standards.
- Conduct benchmarking on employee engagement practices and help analyze internal feedback (event surveys, pulse polls, engagement data) to recommend improvements.
Corporate Communications
- Draft employee-facing communications (emails, SharePoint posts, leadership talking points).
- Build slide decks and visual materials for leadership updates and engagement initiatives.
- Review communication channels and recommend opportunities to improve clarity, reach, and inclusivity.
Special Projects
- Conduct a competitive analysis of external-facing communications related to inclusion and belonging, identifying trends and best practices used by leading retailers to communicate authentically and effectively.
- Develop brand-aligned job posting templates that reflect the company’s voice and culture, ensuring consistency across talent acquisition channels.
- Support key initiatives such as the company-wide engagement survey and new hire orientation.
- Participate in a collaborative summer intern project presented to senior leadership.
Successful candidates should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field; completion of junior year by Summer 2025.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); familiarity with basic design tools is a plus.
