Our client, a local consulting services company in Destin, Florida needs a full-time Project Engineer to join their team. The position includes oversight of on-going projects including Project Management and Construction Administration, Field Testing, Building Envelope Assessments/Reviews, Report Writing and Design and Development of Construction Documents for Restoration Projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and assessing building envelope requirements and assisting in the selection of components like roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall systems.
- Critiquing project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
- Providing recommendations regarding building envelope systems and components, including transition details and adequate surfaces for waterproofing.
- Conduction condition assessments of the building envelope including site inspections and field testing, to prepare detailed reports with repair or replacement recommendations.
- Collaborating with architects, developers and contractors to ensure building envelope requirements are met and providing guidance on design and construction.
- Interacting with internal and external team members to meet company needs and ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Knowledge of construction, construction materials, roofing, waterproofing and exterior walls is not required but considered an asset for the position
- On the job training will be provided and it is expected that the Project Engineer will "shadow" a senior engineer for various projects to develop an understanding of the industry and projects.
- Tasks will be assigned to the project engineer that will require critical thinking and problem solving.
- In addition, the Project Engineer position is a position that is designed for an employee with the intention of seeking full professional licensure within Florida, and/or other locations where services are provided.
- Capable of performing work-related tasks on their own
- Excellent problem-solving skills, exhibit determination and drive to complete the tasks assigned, and be capable of knowing their own work productivity
Other:
- At times, personnel from various offices will need to travel to other offices to assist on projects located in the Southwestern US. This position may require travel frequently for a portion of any given week to travel to a project to perform on-site work whether for an investigation, design, meeting or on-site review.
