Job Title: PLC / Automation Technician
Overview
We are seeking a skilled PLC / Automation Technician to support the design, assembly, wiring, and commissioning of industrial control systems. This role involves hands-on panel building, fi eld wiring, and PLC/HMI programming across a range of custom automation projects.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working both in the shop and in the fi eld, understands industrial control systems at a practical level, and can take ownership of projects from build through startup.
Key Responsibilities
● Build, wire, and troubleshoot industrial control panels (120VAC–480VAC, 24VDC systems)
● Interpret and work from electrical schematics, layouts, and P&IDs
● Perform fi eld wiring of sensors, motors, VFDs, servos, and instrumentation
● Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs (ladder logic, structured text, or function block)
● Configure and integrate VFDs, servo drives, and motion systems
● Assist with system startup, commissioning, and on-site debugging
● Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues efficiently
● Maintain clean and organized panel layouts and wiring practices
● Document changes, updates, and as-built conditions
Required Qualifications
● 3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls
● Strong understanding of electrical systems and control wiring
● Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
● Experience with PLC platforms (e.g., Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
● Familiarity with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, EtherCAT, etc.)
● Experience with VFDs and basic motor control systems
● Comfortable using multimeters and diagnostic tools
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with motion control (servo systems, coordinated axes)
● Familiarity with structured text (ST) or advanced PLC programming
● Experience with HMI/SCADA systems
● Panel layout/design experience (AutoCAD Electrical or similar)
● Experience commissioning custom machinery or production equipment
● Understanding of safety circuits and standards
Work Environment
● Combination of shop-based panel assembly and on-site fi eld work
● Exposure to industrial environments (manufacturing, production facilities)
● Occasional travel for installations and commissioning
