Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Wine Sales Representative to manage and grow our retail partner network. This field-based role focuses on building strong relationships with retailers, driving sales through product education and support, and ensuring excellent representation of our wine portfolio in stores.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Sales
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing retail accounts while prospecting for new opportunities
- Conduct regular store visits to ensure proper product placement, pricing, and inventory levels
- Collaborate with retailers to develop sales strategies and promotional plans specific to their customer base
- Track and report on sales performance, market trends, and competitive activity
Product Education & Support
- Conduct staff training sessions at retail locations to enhance product knowledge
- Organize and execute in-store tastings, demos, and promotional events
- Provide detailed product information, tasting notes, and food pairing suggestions
Merchandising & Operations
- Deliver product to retailers and restaurants
- Ensure optimal shelf presence and display positioning
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with retailers on reorder timing
- Maintain accurate records of visits, sales, and account activities in CRM system
Required Qualifications
- Sales experience (wine, spirits, or beer distribution preferred)
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for daily travel within territory
- Ability to lift and move cases of wine (up to 40 lbs)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with CRM systems and basic computer applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with local retailers
- Experience with independent and chain retail accounts
- Knowledge of local market and competition
- WSET Level 1 or higher certification
