The Assistant Dean of Students plays a vital role in supporting students' holistic development and success at
Landmark School. This residential position requires a dynamic, student-centered educator who thrives in a
collaborative environment and is passionate about student engagement, teaching, and residential life. The ideal
candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and time management skills, strong critical thinking and
problem-solving abilities, and outstanding oral and written communication skills. This role will be supervised by
the Dean of Students, and it is a full-time 10-month position.
Essential responsibilities include the following:
● Foster strong relationships with students to promote personal, social, and academic growth
● Create and support student programming initiatives, including community nights, 8th-grade transition
● Serve as a visible and accessible presence on campus
● Participate in the administrative on-call rotation
● Collaborate with other Deans to on-board Campus Coordinators and Residential Advisors
● Respond to and manage student incidents with professionalism, discretion, and care
● Assist in the development and enforcement of student life policies and protocols
● Participate in the implementation of disciplinary processes and restorative practices
● Support crisis management and student support planning in coordination with the Dean of Students,
Health Center, and Counseling Services
● Teach one class per academic year
● Contribute to advisory programs and other community-building initiatives
● Participate in all Administrative meetings and expectations including participation in the design and
implementation of August and Early Release Day faculty training
● Collaborate in the evaluation of Campus Coordinators and Residential Advisors
Professionalism:
● Work closely with academic, residential, and administrative teams to ensure consistent support for
students
● Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, training, and committees
● Serve as a role model for students and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism, ethical behavior, and
teamwork
Preferred Experience and qualifications include:
● Masters in Special Ed., Certification in Moderate Special Needs required
● Supervisory experience preferred
● Prior experience working in a residential life setting
● Passion for working with adolescents in a mission-driven environment
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities with strong organizational and time
management skills
● Skilled in critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Team-oriented, energetic, and proactive
