What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Truck Driver position at Landmark Excavating?
Position Summary:
Landmark Excavating is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Water Truck Driver to support our heavy civil construction operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate a water truck to control dust and support compaction efforts on job sites. The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-minded, and experienced with operating in active construction environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a water truck to distribute water over roads, trenches, and other surfaces as directed
- Maintain proper water levels in assigned areas to support dust control and soil compaction
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water levels
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT and company safety standards
- Safely navigate and operate on active construction sites, including around equipment and personnel
- Communicate with site supervisors and equipment operators to ensure proper coverage and job site needs
- Keep truck clean, fueled, and in good operating condition
- Complete required paperwork and log entries accurately and on time
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience, preferably in construction or off-road environments
- Clean driving record and current DOT medical card
- Familiarity with operating water trucks and understanding of dust control practices
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and navigate rough terrain
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork-oriented mindset
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for long periods while operating vehicle
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to climb in and out of truck cab multiple times per day
- Capable of working in outdoor conditions including heat, dust, and noise
