Business Development Manager – South Division (Heavy Civil)

Position Overview
We are seeking a driven, relationship-focused Business Development Manager to lead growth efforts in our South Division. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new work in the heavy civil and excavation market.
This is a high-impact, performance-based position designed for someone who thrives on building relationships, creating opportunities, and closing deals. You will not be handed leads. You are expected to generate them.
The right candidate is well-connected in the region, understands how projects are awarded, and is motivated by results.
What You’ll Do
Drive New Work
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities across public and private sectors
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified work
- Engage early in project development whenever possible
Build Relationships
- Develop strong connections with:
- General contractors
- Developers
- Municipal leaders
- Engineers and consultants
- Maintain a consistent in-person presence in the market
Win Projects
- Position the company to secure work through relationships and strategic involvement
- Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to support successful bids
- Track opportunities from first contact through award
Know the Market
- Stay informed on upcoming projects, bid opportunities, and market trends
- Provide regular updates on pipeline, competitors, and key relationships

Compensation
This role is built for performance and rewards production at a high level.
Base Salary:
$60,000 – $80,000 (depending on experience)
Performance Incentives:
- Commission tied to secured work (revenue and/or project profitability)
- Uncapped earning potential
Expected Earnings:
$150,000 – $300,000 annually, with top performers exceeding this range based on results.
Additional incentives may include:
- Bonuses for landing strategic accounts
- Multi-project client relationships
- Annual performance milestones
Qualifications
- Experience in heavy civil, excavation, or construction-related business development
- Strong network within Southern Utah, Nevada, or Northern Arizona markets preferred
- Demonstrated ability to generate and close work
- Understanding of construction processes, bidding, and project lifecycle
- Self-starter with strong communication and relationship-building skills
