What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chaplain position at LANDIS COMMUNITIES?
Assists the Director of Pastoral Services in a team effort to support spiritual vitality throughout Landis Homes. Remains alert to the gifts of the residents and encourages their use in the spiritual life of the community.
• Responsible for pastoral care of Landis Homes' residents in Healthcare and Personal Care, assisting with Residential Living and hospital visits as needed.
• Supports residents, family and team members during times of transition from one location to another, and during times of dying and death.
• Facilitates the Walk of Honor with family and team members following the death of a resident.
• Documents in MyUnity noteworthy visits or those referred by other team members. Makes referrals to other team members as needed.
• Assists with coordination of volunteer chaplains and CPE interns, assigning and documenting visits.
• Shares the planning of Sunday worship services and monthly preaching or worship/song leading.
• Leads special worship services such as communion, Service of Remembrance, and viewings and memorial services as needed/requested.
• Leads devotions in Healthcare and Personal Care households and weekly in West Bethany for closed-circuit TV.
• Participates in support groups, Healthcare care plan meetings and Personal Care rounds.
• Assists with evening and weekend on-call coverage.
• Assists with other Pastoral Services in the absence of the Director.
• Attends continuing education events and Chaplain's meetings in coordination with the Director of Pastoral Services.
• Communicates calmly and gently with residents, family members and staff, exhibiting patience, compassion, understanding and sensitivity.
• Demonstrates dependability, competence, accuracy and is observant.
• Adheres to compliance policies regarding confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and resident and client rights.
• Complies with regulatory agency standards and applicable policies and procedures.

• Master's degree in pastoral related ministry required.
• Minimum of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education required and working towards four units.
• Congregational affirmation of gifts for ministry. Ordination or licensing required.
• Minimum 3 years experience in related role preferred.
• Gifted for pastoral care and preaching.
• Demonstrates a pleasant personality with flexibility and adaptability for the unexpected.
• Demonstrates meaningful personal experience with Jesus Christ.
• Proficient in use of computer and related technology required for the role.
• Possesses good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates qualities of Christian faith and an understanding of, and respect for, the values and mission of the organization and its Mennonite/Anabaptist connections.
