Safety Specialist

Location: Pasco, WA, 99301

Position Summary

The Safety Specialist provides technical safety and health support to all production personnel. This role is responsible for developing and coordinating safety and health programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a safe workplace culture. The Safety Specialist monitors current safety regulations, implements training initiatives, and supports continuous improvement in workplace safety and health standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical safety and health support to production and plant personnel.
• Develop, maintain, and update written safety and health programs, policies, and procedures.
• Identify training needs and develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs.
• Establish and monitor company safety and health objectives and goals.
• Support engineering teams in identifying and implementing engineering controls to mitigate safety and occupational health hazards.
• Assist with the selection and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Promote awareness of safety and health policies through internal communications.
• Support and assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Hazard Communication Program.
• Analyze operating procedures and records to identify and address safety and health risks.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local occupational safety and health regulations.
• Investigate workplace incidents (injuries, illnesses, near misses) and ensure proper documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Stay up to date on changes to safety regulations, industry best practices, and internal processes.
• Manage all site safety programs and training schedules, including recordkeeping and evaluation of effectiveness.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
• 2 years of experience in a safety-related role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage files, training records, inspection records and other materials required to document compliance with safety and environmental programs.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software systems.
