This role is responsible for developing and coordinating safety and health programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a safe workplace culture. The Safety Specialist monitors current safety regulations, implements training initiatives, and supports continuous improvement in workplace safety and health standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical safety and health support to production and plant personnel.
- Develop, maintain, and update written safety and health programs, policies, and procedures.
- Identify training needs and develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs.
- Establish and monitor company safety and health objectives and goals.
- Support engineering teams in identifying and implementing engineering controls to mitigate safety and occupational health hazards.
- Assist with the selection and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Promote awareness of safety and health policies through internal communications.
- Support and assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Hazard Communication Program.
- Analyze operating procedures and records to identify and address safety and health risks.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local occupational safety and health regulations.
- Investigate workplace incidents (injuries, illnesses, near misses) and ensure proper documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Stay up to date on changes to safety regulations, industry best practices, and internal processes.
- Manage all site safety programs and training schedules, including recordkeeping and evaluation of effectiveness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a safety-related role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage files, training records, inspection records and other materials required to document compliance with safety and environmental programs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software systems.
Salary : $30 - $50
