About The Role
The Senior Maintenance Technician coordinates, supervises, performs, and documents maintenance and repair functions associated with the operation of project vessels. This position establishes departmental procedures and ensures associated training and compliance. The Senior Maintenance Technician manages the preventative maintenance program and capital planning activities, develops vendor and contractor relationships, establishes and manages critical spares and consumable inventories, and reviews and monitors work requests to ensure machinery history is maintained.
What You'll Do
○ Support the overall state of safety and security for the project site.
○ Participate in safety drills and inspections with regulatory bodies.
○ Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
○ Handle and dispose of all chemicals and hazardous/caustic materials in compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).
○ Report safety-related concerns to the General Manager or Captain on Duty.
○ Implement and monitor the Preventative Maintenance Program.
○ Develop and maintain standards for engineering logs and vessel maintenance records.
○ Periodically inspect machinery spaces for environmental, safety, and health deficiencies; communicate findings to the Senior Captain and monitor corrective actions.
○ Develop work orders and issue maintenance and repair assignments.
○ Monitor completion of maintenance and repair tasks by Company personnel and outside contractors.
○ Provide guidance in the vessel overhaul process including project planning, definition of work, technical specifications, and materials/vendor sourcing.
○ Maintain machinery history; conduct root cause analysis and incorporate corrective procedures.
○ Ensure engineering training and drills are conducted per company policies, regulatory requirements, and best management practices.
○ Conduct appropriate testing and trend analysis.
○ Assist with budget development; responsible for M&R expenditures, cost control, and budget tracking.
○ Continually evaluate engineering personnel proficiency and provide guidance for improvement; encourage career advancement.
○ Use independent judgment to develop and execute innovative solutions to crew management and morale issues.
○ Assist the Captain in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
○ Assist the Captain in ensuring the vessel is in an inspection-ready condition at all times.
○ Assist other projects with vessel compliance and inspection preparation.
○ Maintain Crew Qualification binder when applicable.
○ Present a professional level of customer service and appearance to all clients, both internal and external.

- Additional Responsibilities
Qualifications
- Valid USCG credential for QMED or higher preferred, but not required.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification, and/or ability to obtain and maintain.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to bring increased value through efficiencies and cost-control.
- Ability to process calculations frequently and continuously; familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with marine systems preferred; applicable land-based experience will be considered.
- Proven track record of working successfully in a team environment.
- Must pass USCG-mandated alcohol and drug tests, including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident testing.
