Land Run Cooperative is looking for motivated individuals for Temporary Full-Time General Labor Summer Help to joing the team for seasonal work in the Waukomis, Oklahoma area. SUMMARY
The General Labor Summer Help position is responsible for assisting with the receiving, storing, and shipping of grain at the Cooperative’s grain elevators, providing customer service, and performing grounds and general maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
- General lawn and grounds maintenance.
- Keep the shop and warehouse areas in clean, safe conditions.
- Assists customers in loading purchases, locking, and unlocking facilities.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks, complying with safety regulations.
- Assist Coop staff with dumping grain and fertilizer and/or loading railcars or trucks,
- Assist in the cleaning of grain bins, pits, and fertilizer facilities.
- Assist the fertilizer and elevator staff as needed.
- Assists with inventory controls as directed.
- Clean and maintain vehicles and equipment as qualified and report issues.
- Inspect grain for insects, moisture, and foreign material while unloading grain trucks.
- Assist Coop staff with reading of thermometers on the control panel to ascertain grain temperatures at various levels in storage tanks in a timely manner.
- Assists in performing routine maintenance and repair on all elevator and fertilizer equipment.
- Maintain and promote safety awareness; follow safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Notify the General Manager of defects encountered that might cause safety or reliability problems.
- Regular attendance
- Employees are required to perform all other duties as directed by management.

This Job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes, or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations. Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation, and labeling.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to grasp, handle, or feel. Reach with hands and arms above the shoulders and head. Talk or hear; taste or smell; stand; walk; sit; and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds. The employee may frequently need to climb ladders and stairs. Specific vision abilities required by this Job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employees must understand and implement all relevant safety policies, procedures, and programs to prevent and protect themselves while performing job duties across various work environments.
NOTE: Specifically, this Job entails working in and around a grain elevator, climbing ladders, and working in high and confined spaces. The environment is frequently dusty, with extreme weather ranging from high heat to cold and wet. It includes functions associated with the operation of a grain storage elevator, including fumigation and inspection of stored grain.
