Job Summary

Directs and supervises staff in the moving, processing, shipping, receiving, and controlling raw donations, salvage, recycling inventory and stored inventory.  

Essential Job Duties

  1. In collaboration with Director of Logistics and other leadership, oversees warehouse; direct activities of warehouse staff
  2. Schedules staff, documents and communicates performance and behavioral issues
  3. Trains, coaches and provides feedback to help staff strengthen and develop skills
  4. Effectively manages time and monitors staff time to ensure that work is completed
  5. Coordinates and expedites flow of materials between locations, according to truck schedules and store needs.
  6. Reviews production schedules, confers with department supervisors to determine production requirements, and arranges transfers of materials.  
  7. Operates a forklift, baler and lift tables in accordance with OSHA and LLGI standards.
  8. Moves, transports and prepares donated goods for delivery to stores according to priorities and availability.
  9. Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
  10. Compiles and maintains material inventory records and prepares reports
  11. Ensures proper maintenance and care of equipment, machinery and facilities
  12. Contributes to team success by involving others in work processes, decisions and actions
  13. Serves as a leader and role model for the warehouse.
  14. Analyzes the warehouse operation, recognizes potential issues before they arise, and recommends appropriate solutions.
  15. Prioritizes tasks; meets warehouse production goals and deadlines.
  16. Oversees staff in performing janitorial duties; assists with janitorial duties.
  17. Ensures warehouse staff follow policies and procedures
  18. Demonstrates leadership and positive role modeling for warehouse staff
  19. Champions safety and loss prevention program and handles loss control concerns
  20. Drives warehouse operational improvements
  21. Maintains quality control in warehouse operations
  22. Enforces safety policies and procedures and ensures they are being followed; reports noncompliance
  23. Leads daily stretching/warm-up exercises
  24. Conducts emergency drills; reviews and reports results; performs quarterly ergonomic assessments
  25. Ensures that shelter postings and evacuations routes are current and posted
  26. Conducts daily safety checks; identifies, corrects and removes hazards
  27. Performs monthly audits and reviews checklists for general safety and lighting
  28. Ensures that required reporting, including safety checklists, are completed by the designated deadline
  29. Conducts site walkthroughs and ensures the safety acknowledgment is completed for new employees
  30. Attends safety meetings/conference calls; relays information to appropriate individuals and implements new initiatives
  31. Oversees inventory and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the worksite; maintains first aid kit, safety and PPE inventory
  32. Conducts toolbox talks and updates facility staff on important safety information 
  33. Updates and maintains site safety documentation; maintains safety-related binders and boards
  34. Serves as a site contact for accident/incident reporting; works alongside site supervisor(s) to investigate and report incidents/accidents
  35. Ensures EPA/OSHA compliance with workplace chemicals including donated chemicals
  36. Travels to locations within the LLGI territory
  37.  Ensures that the stakeholder’s perspective is a driving force behind customer satisfaction.
  38. Seeks to understand the stakeholder’s circumstances, problems, expectations and needs.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Credentials

Requires high school diploma or equivalent. 

Requires three years of experience in a warehouse/industrial setting, with one year team leader/supervisory experience. 

Requires certification as a forklift operator with one year experience driving/operating a forklift.

Requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, proof of insurance and reliable transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires the flexibility to work Monday through Saturday during warehouse hours.

Requires basic math skills. 

Requires ability to load and unload trucks according to standard

Requires CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment

Must be available and willing to work on weekends and holidays to meet business needs

Requires basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel; Google platform, and the ability to utilize other software such as payroll/HRIS systems

Requires ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written messages.

Requires excellent organizational, problem solving, interpersonal, motivational and collaboration skills.

Maintains confidentiality of information related to LLGI operations, financial matters and personnel matters

Physical Requirements

Requires ability to stand for extended periods and lift, walk, sit, use hands or fingers to handle or feel; talk or hear, climb stairs and/or ladders. 

Requires occasional reaching with hands and arms, climb or balance, bend, stoop, twist, or kneel. 

Requires full use of body and ability to carry, lift, push, pull and move up to fifty (50) pounds. 

Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Requires ability to safely use pallet jack and stacker with loads ranging from 100 to 700 pounds.

Requires ability to stand for extended periods and lift, reach, climb, bend, stoop and twist.

Requires visual acuity to operate machinery and process donations.

Requires visual acuity to work in an environment with changing and/or low light levels.

Subject to transfer to other locations within the LLGI territory.

Environmental Conditions

Work in a light industrial/warehouse environment.

Subject to inside environmental conditions; exposure to heat and cold but protected from weather conditions.

Subject to exposure to high and/or precarious places.

Subject to exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, pet hair, mold, metals, rubber, plastics, latex, and other allergens.

Tools and Equipment

Basic office equipment including computer, calculator, photocopier, scanner, and telephone.  Forklifts, baler, ladder, lift table, pallet jack, stacker, scales, compactor, material lifts, furniture dollies, trash dumpster, personal protective equipment, basic tools of the assigned work area, phone / two-way radio, computer, fax, janitorial equipment and cleaning solvents.
