Pharmacy Technician duties and responsibilities
- Perform accurate data entry of prescription orders, patient information, and medication details.
- Process pharmacy billing transactions and submit prescription insurance claims.
- Verify insurance information, patient eligibility, copayments, and billing details.
- Review and correct billing errors, rejected claims, and data entry discrepancies.
- Update patient profiles, prescription records, and insurance information in the pharmacy management system.
- Assist with insurance claim follow-up and billing-related inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records and protect confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Support pharmacists and pharmacy staff with daily prescription processing and administrative duties.
Skills and qualifications
- Billing and data entry experience.
- Experience with pharmacy billing, insurance claims processing, and prescription data entry.
- Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate patient, prescription, billing, and insurance records.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Reporting skills
- Experience working with multiple pharmacy software programs.
- Strong data entry skills
- Must have Knowledge of medical & drug terminology
Education and training requirements
- Must be a registered pharmacy technician or certified pharmacy technician.
- Previous billing and data entry experience required.
- Able to pass a level II background check – (No criminal background)
- Must be able to pass a drug test upon hire and maintain clean drug-free testing at random.
- High School Diploma.
- Basic math skills.
