Role Description
Land Fund XVIII is a private real estate ownership and management company seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to oversee the financial reporting and accounting functions for a designated real estate portfolio. This full-time, on-site position in New York, NY is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting while working closely with property management to support operational effectiveness and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties
- Manage property‑level budgets and forecasts in partnership with property management
- Ensure adherence to company accounting policies, procedures, and reporting standards
- Track and meet all reporting deadlines
- Prepare and review monthly accruals, straight‑line rent calculations, and journal entries
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Review delinquency reports and coordinate with property management on material issues
- Interpret lease terms and collaborate with lease administration
- Monitor cash balances, process essential payments, and prepare funding requests
- Assist with annual budget preparation and upload approved budgets into accounting systems
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Analyze financial and operational data and respond to ownership and management inquiries
- Prepare personal property tax filings and monitor sales and use tax compliance
- Support audits and assist with special projects as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 2–3 years of accounting experience; multifamily real estate experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting processes
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and journal entries
- Excellent analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with MRI or Yardi preferred
Pay
$90,000 - $95,000 per year
