Role Description The Horticulture Crew Lead is a full-time, on-site role. This position is responsible for leading a crew in the installation, maintenance, and enhancement of residential and commercial landscapes, including planting, pruning, mulching, seasonal color, fall and spring clean ups. The Horticulture Crew Lead organizes daily work plans, assigns tasks, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards. Daily responsibilities include operating and monitoring landscape equipment, coordinating plant materials and supplies, and communicating progress and issues to project managers and clients as needed. The role also involves coaching crew members, supporting sustainable horticultural practices, and helping maintain a positive, respectful work environment.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of horticulture and landscaping experience, including plant identification, proper planting techniques, pruning, soil care, and general garden maintenance.
- Ability to supervise a crew, delegating tasks, and providing on-the-job training and guidance.
- Operational skills in using and maintaining landscape tools and equipment with a strong focus on safety.
- Project execution skills, including reading basic plans, organizing daily schedules, managing materials on-site, and maintaining worksite cleanliness.
- Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and supervisors in a professional and respectful manner.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Previous experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or a related field; supervisory experience on a landscape crew.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma and relevant horticulture or landscape certifications are beneficial.
