Required: High School graduate, or equivalent.
Desired: Experience performing painting and detail work in automotive or related field. 2 Year Degree in related Vocational Field of Study.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Requires ability to learn and understand paint and detail processes and techniques; requires an eye for detail. Ability to recognize all colors in a normal spectrum; Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable operating and documentation procedures and material flow; Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures; ability to accept constructive criticism; ability to prioritize, organize, solve problems, and complete tasks independently; ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees.
Physical And Environmental Elements
This is a production classification and employees work in a factory environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable standing, stooping, bending, or sitting for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Essential Functions
- Under close supervision, completes washing, sanding, priming, painting, detailing and minor re-assembly on sub-assembly and/or finished products in accordance with written and verbal instructions.
- Under close supervision performs after paint inspection activities.
- In accordance with company procedures, prepares units for next operation.
- Complies with all safety and hazardous material procedures
- Required to initiate Engineering Change Requests to improve quality, reduce cycle times and /or to correct nonconformities.
- Required to comply with requirements for Hazardous waste Management.
- Complies with Quality Management System requirements in accordance with ISO9001
- Maintains all aspects of work place organization.
- Performs other job tasks as requested.
- Required to maintain accurate records.
- May be required to operate forklifts.
- May provide assistance to other departments, as needed.
- May be required to participate in Small Group Improvement Activity Teams, daily Team Meetings and Team Exercise sessions.
