Design Engineer

Shift: 8am-4: 30pm core (minimum) work hours. Duration: 3-month contract Pay range: $60.00 - $66.66/hr. Onsite with the possibility of hybrid  Some travel may be required for customer and supplier meetings, off-site training, off-site testing, and attendance at industry conferences. Top 3 skill sets HM is looking for: Creo, NX and/or Catia CAD fluency Ansys Mechanical Workbench Structural design (frame, brackets, subframes) Design for Additive Manufacturing Windchill PDM/PLM ASME Y14.5 GD&T Top preferred qualifications: Strong CAD and Ansys Mechanical User Top notch communication skills OVERVIEW: Mid-level design engineer with core responsibilities including product and system design and development. The main focus will be mechanical system design using CAD and structural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling to substantiate the lower-level decisions. This position’s responsibilities will span from initial concepts through detailed drawing execution while working within a project team under the review of a design team lead. System-level design responsibility is expected in this position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Vehicle and Product System Design and Development. System physics modeling and characterization. CAD system and component concept development and packaging. Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in design optimization. Technical drawing generation. Prepare and present project status reports. Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R). Project Support. Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAE and project management skills. Prepare technical specifications for use by client's Engineering. Develop testing methods and procedures for use by client's Engineering. Investigate alternative business opportunities. Support manufacturing by answering questions and responding to ECRs. Investigate alternative business opportunities. Present results to and take direction from external customers. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required. Be a team player. Have great attention to detail. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3yrs engineering employment experience. BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent. DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent. Experience in parametric 3D modeling and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Creo/NX and/or Catia Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to support technicians and shop builds. Operate simple hand tools, etc. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will typically be performed in a team-based office environment.
