What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workers Compensation Counsel position at Lancesoft - State Account?
We are seeking a California-licensed Workers' Compensation Attorney to join a leading insurance organization's legal team. In this role, you will represent the company and its insured clients in workers' compensation matters involving moderate complexity. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, extensive knowledge of California Workers' Compensation law, and the ability to independently manage a caseload.
Responsibilities
- Represent the company and insured clients in California workers' compensation claims.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies for assigned cases.
- Conduct hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed.
- Prepare legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related materials.
- Perform legal research and provide clear legal advice to claims representatives and insured clients.
- Collaborate with claims professionals to evaluate case strategy and settlement opportunities.
- Manage discovery and ensure timely case progression.
- Stay current with California Workers' Compensation laws and legal developments.
- Utilize legal technology and case management systems to improve efficiency.
- Maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality legal representation.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in California (Required).
- Minimum 1 year of experience practicing Workers' Compensation law.
- Strong knowledge of California Workers' Compensation statutes, procedures, and litigation.
- Experience handling hearings, depositions, discovery, settlements, and trials.
- Excellent written, verbal, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Insurance defense or carrier-side Workers' Compensation experience.
- Strong litigation and case management skills.
- Experience working directly with claims professionals and insured clients.
