Position Overview
D-H Medical Center is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Birthing Pavilion team. This is a high-demand contract opportunity offering competitive pay and the chance to work in a well-equipped maternity unit with strong staffing support and patient-focused care.
Assignment Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift Options:
- 12-hour Day/Night Rotation (AM–PM)
- 12-hour Night Shift (PM–AM)
- Shift Length: 11.5 hours (30-minute unpaid break)
- On-Call: Not required
- Annual Deliveries: ~1,300 births per year
- Unit Setup:
- 21 Labor & Delivery rooms
- 2-bed triage room
- 2 operating rooms
- Patient Care Model: Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines
- 1:1 – Active labor, Pitocin, intermittent monitoring
- 1:2 – Cervical ripening, high-risk medications (Magnesium, Insulin drips)
- 1:3 – Antepartum and postpartum couplets
- Provide comprehensive care to laboring and postpartum patients
- Monitor fetal and maternal status throughout labor and delivery
- Administer medications including high-risk drips (e.g., Pitocin, Magnesium)
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience: Prior Labor & Delivery experience required
- Skills:
- Strong clinical judgment in maternal and fetal care
- Ability to manage high-risk pregnancies and medications
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- High-paying contract
- Work in a well-structured, supportive L&D unit
- No on-call requirements
- Exposure to a high-volume birthing center with diverse cases
