Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures while ensuring high-quality imaging and patient safety. This role requires a strong understanding of general diagnostic radiology, adherence to departmental protocols, and effective use of imaging systems within the healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Radiographic Imaging
- Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures according to physician orders.
- Produce high-quality images while maintaining patient safety.
- Analyze exam requests and determine appropriate imaging protocols.
Patient Care
- Verify patient identity and review patient history.
- Confirm pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation.
- Assess patient condition and determine if additional medical support is needed.
- Assist patients requiring extra attention and respond to emergency situations.
Image Management
- Review, critique, and orient radiographic images.
- Ensure accurate patient demographic information.
- Transmit quality-assured images to PACS.
- Complete exam documentation in RIS and related systems.
Documentation & Systems
- Utilize RIS, PACS, CIS, and HIS systems to document procedures.
- Ensure exam completion and proper data transmission.
- Report equipment issues and maintain imaging equipment.
Workplace Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Monitor daily exam schedules and patient flow.
- Document incidents and report improvement opportunities.
