Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, scaling, root planing, and fluoride treatments to promote oral health.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures aligned with healthcare standards.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems like Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with dental equipment operation, dental x-ray techniques, and medical imaging.
- Excellent client communication skills to effectively educate patients about dental care and treatment plans.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with precision while maintaining a sterile environment.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance management to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices to uphold safety standards in the clinic environment.
