What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Custodian position at Lancaster High School?
Qualifications:
1. Experience in cleaning buildings, minor maintenance, and security services
2. Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment or willingness to learn
3. Basic repair skills and familiarity with maintenance tools and methods
4. Awareness of fire and safety factors
5. Physical strength, dexterity, and ability to do manual work
6. Ability to use computer automated payroll system
7. Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other employees
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Clean and maintain the cleanliness of the buildings/areas assigned
2. Works the entire assigned work shift
3. Sweeps, mops, wax, dust, vacuums, and other general cleaning tasks
4. Scrubs and disinfects bathrooms and touch areas daily, cleans drinking fountains daily using such materials as will keep them in a clean and sanitary condition
5. Maintain cleaning equipment in a safe and serviceable manner daily
6. Washes all windows, inside and outside, at least twice yearly; Front lobby windows will be cleaned daily
7. Immediately reports damage to the principal of school property providing names of person responsible
8. Remain on the premises during school hours or assigned extra duties. Custodian shall be absent during school hours only for just and sufficient causes and only with permission of the principal or in accordance with a schedule of work hours
9. Follows OSHA procedures when cleaning up body fluids or other hazardous spills
10. Locates and uses Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS)
11. Uses a stepladder or other equipment appropriate for cleaning, changing light bulbs, or minor repairs
Reports to: Principal
Contract: As per school board policy and regulations. This position includes participation in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), health insurance and paid time off (vacation, personal and sick leave.)
Salary : $26,880 - $41,395
