What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Track Coach position at Lancaster High School?
Position Description:
The assistant track coach will assist the head coach with organizing a successful track program at Lancaster High School.
The assistant coach will also assist with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides guidance and encouragement to help students grow from their participation; Maintain compliance of Lancaster County Public Schools and Virginia High School League rules, regulations, and policies that pertain to athletic programs; Promotes a favorable image of the school district.
- Instruct players in the regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercise.
- Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps up with academic performance of players.
- Supervising athletes during practices and competition.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Maintains the team equipment in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
- Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students.
- Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
- Effectively communicate with players, parents, and administration.
- Participates in fundraising events and activities when coaching.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Be in good physical condition.
- Have the ability to motivate players to reach their potential.
- Must have exceptional leadership skills
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of coaching experience as an Assistant Coach, or a Head Coach.
- Seeking a coach who competed at the college level, club team level, professional level, or high school level.
