Lancaster County Parks and Recreation is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and caring individuals to join our team as Part-Time After-School Counselors. Counselors are responsible for supervising and engaging with children in grades K–5 during the after-school program. This role involves guiding children through daily activities, assisting with homework, facilitating games and crafts, serving snacks, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
Counselors will be assigned to one of the following sites:
- Indian Land Recreation Center
- Springdale Recreation Center
- Buford Recreation Center
- Andrew Jackson Recreation Center
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise children in grades K–5 in a safe, structured environment.
- Assist with daily homework and academic activities.
- Lead and participate in indoor and outdoor games, crafts, and group activities.
- Foster a nurturing, positive environment that promotes cooperation, self-esteem, and good behavior.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.
- Distribute and supervise snack time, ensuring cleanliness and proper nutrition guidelines.
- Maintain clean program areas, including gyms and activity rooms.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Report any incidents, concerns, or issues to the Recreation Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Assist with extended hours during school closings, special events, early dismissals, holidays, field trips, and other camps as needed.
Work Schedule
- Standard Hours: Monday through Friday, 1:30 PM – 6:00 PM
- Extended Hours: May vary during school closings, teacher workdays, special events, and center weekend programs
Salary : $15 - $17
