- Masters Degree and PA Department of Education Certification in Secondary School Guidance
- 1 - 3 years of experience preferred
- PDE Certification in Special Education Preferred; experience working with Special Education strongly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Valid PA Driver’s License required

- Ensure equitable access to opportunities and rigorous curriculum for all students
- Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, community organizations and other stakeholders
- instruction – teaching the school counseling curriculum to students focused through the lens of selected student standards from the ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success.
- Appraisal and advisement – assessing student abilities, interests and achievement to help them make decisions about their future.
- Counseling – providing professional assistance and support to a student or small group of students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impeding student success. School counselors do not provide therapy or long-term counseling in schools; however, school counselors are prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and to assist students and families seeking resources.
- Consultation – share strategies supporting student achievement with parents, teachers, other educators and community organizations
- Collaboration – work with other educators, parents and the community to support student achievement
- Referrals – support for students and families to school or community resources for additional assistance and information.
- Schedule/coordinate appointments/conferences with students, parents, and high school personnel as needed.
- Support the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) processes/procedures as needed and requested per availability.
- Maintain a file of information on each student that includes past education, adjustments, development, and placement, as well as all other educationally necessary information.
- Provide assistance to obtain and review career objectives for each student.
- Assist with exit process for students who choose to return to high school.
- Provide occupational information as needed as part of the student’s total educational experience.
- Provide information and assistance to those students who desire post-high school education, work or military options. This includes information on courses, schools, availability of funds, scholarship information, and required documentation for Statewide Articulation (SOAR) or local articulation, and recommendations.
- Assist with student related surveys and reports.
- Assist with the student CATS reports.
- Assist in the planning of the certificate and awards program, new student orientation (Meet & Greet), and open house.
- Serve as a member of the Student Assistant Team and the RtII team (SAP/HEART/STAR).
- Provide for anti-harassment/anti-bullying strategies for students and staff.
