Job Title: Culinary Arts Career Technical Instructor
Location: Lancaster High School
Purpose of position: Instructor that is able to train high school students to become chefs and food service professionals. Provide students with applicable learning experiences and activities in Culinary Arts designed to achieve maximum potential growth. Instruction involves hands-on participation from the students so that they develop a firmer understanding of the practice.
Qualifications for above position:
- Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of experience in an appropriate occupation OR
five (5) years industry or business experience in the teaching subject area
- Certified or able to secure certification for the American Culinary Federation (ACF Certification) or ProStart and NRAEF Serv/Safe certified at level II for the State of Ohio
- Professional Career Technical License or meet requirements to attain license
- Experience working with individuals from diverse academic backgrounds
- Successful outcome of fingerprinting and background check.
Description of Position Requirements:
- Provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses
- Exhibits strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Assumes responsibility for the delivery of the curriculum in the classroom, ensuring both the rigor of the program and quality of instruction to achieve course outcomes
- Practices appropriate teaching and learning strategies and uses instructional technology
- Oversees the management of the required student based school business and supervises the industry based work hours and internships.
- Uses appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course outcomes and objectives
- Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction and support for all learners
- Is sensitive to the needs and concerns of a diverse student population, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities
- Maintains confidential and sensitive information
- Possesses strong knowledge of subject area, of educational theory and application and of learners and individual learning styles
