Lanakila Pacific provides programs and services that help individuals with cognitive, physical, social, or age-related challenges build independence and improve quality of life. Our Disability Services team partners with state agencies, private funders, and internal programs to deliver employment-focused services, including vocational training and community-based job placements.


Position Overview:

The Job Coach II supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving meaningful, competitive community employment. This position specializes in hands-on job coaching, classroom instruction, and community-based employment supports. Job Coach II staff provide structured instruction in both technical and soft skills, assist individuals in learning job tasks to employer specifications, and promote long-term job retention through advocacy, problem-solving, and natural supports.

The Job Coach II works collaboratively with Employment Specialists and other team members to uphold Lanakila Pacific’s mission, values, and STAR service standards while delivering person-centered employment services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma and at least 1 year of experience teaching, coaching, facilitating, or working with individuals with disabilities or similar populations

Required Clearances & Certifications

  • Annual TB clearance
  • First Aid/CPR certification (may be obtained on the job)
  • Criminal background check
  • Pre-employment drug test
  • Child and Adult Protective Services checks
  • Fieldprint fingerprinting
  • LEIE check
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving abstract, and access to an insured vehicle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree (or higher) in psychology, social or human services, education, or a related field
  • Completion of competency-based training in Employment Services

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Coaching & Skills Instruction

  • Serve as primary on-the-job coach in community employment and training settings
  • Observe, instruct, and coach participants in workplace and classroom environments
  • Teach job-specific tasks, workplace expectations, and employment-related soft skills
  • Provide group instruction and one-on-one coaching based on individual learning styles
  • Support Employment Specialists with classroom-based employment skill activities

Employment & Resource Support

  • Collaborate with Employment Specialists to implement and document individualized employment plans
  • Assist participants in overcoming barriers to employment and achieving vocational goals
  • Support integration of external resources and services aligned with employment plans
  • Consult with Employment Specialists and management to support workplace accommodations

Documentation & Communication

  • Communicate effectively with participants, staff, departments, referral sources, and employer partners
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services and progress toward employment goals
  • Coordinate service delivery with participant support systems

Other Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate cultural competency and professionalism when working with diverse populations
  • Follow and enforce safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies and procedures
  • Participate in required training and ongoing professional development
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions & Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (schedule may vary)
  • May require evenings, weekends, or holidays based on program needs
  • Work takes place in office, classroom, community, and outdoor environments
  • Travel to various job sites and program locations required

Equipment & Technology:

  • Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and database systems
  • Use of standard office equipment (computer, copier, printer, projector, etc.)
  • Use of company vehicle

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Strong organizational skills with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Initiative and sound judgment in completing responsibilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and pressure
  • Ability to collaborate and maintain productive relationships with diverse individuals

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent: Standing, walking, stooping/kneeling/crouching, handling/push/pull, feeling, seeing, color vision, hearing, travel, Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., Travel between program sites and community locations
  • Occasional: Climbing stairs and ladders, Balancing, Talking
  • Seldom: Sitting for extended periods
  • Rare: Night vision (working at night with use of lighting), Tasting
