Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and specialized equipment for hazardous materials when qualified
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations
- Transport automobile parts or other freight via secure methods, including hazardous goods transportation when certified
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports in accordance with DOT and hazardous materials regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route adjustments, or issues encountered during transit
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record and experience in commercial truck driving
- Proven experience in delivery driving, route driving, or freight transportation involving tractor-trailers
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for dangerous goods transportation
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual loading/unloading tasks
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning on OTR routes
- Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers or automobile transportation is preferred but not mandatory
- Strong manual handling skills and attention to safety during truck loading/unloading processes
