JOB SUMMARY
The role and mission of LSCO places major emphasis upon the teaching component. Therefore, the instructional faculty position at LSCO has an emphasis on teaching, scholarship, and service. The apportionment of responsibilities may be modified for a specific position and for a specific semester due to classes not making or other variables that affect teaching assignments. Faculty will be expected to teach assigned classes according to approved course syllabi or the instructional dean.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaching:
- Teach courses at Texas State University in San Marcos or another TXST site as scheduled and actively engage with students in the learning process.
- Provide feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete required training, such as Blackboard Online Instructor Certification and Title IX Training, etc.
- Take advantage of the professional development opportunities offered by LSCO and TSUS Faculty Development Trainings to continually refine and improve professional knowledge and teaching skills.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures contained in LSCO’s Policies and Procedures Manuals
- Other related duties, as assigned.
ADDITIONAL FACULTY JOB FUNCTIONS (PREFERRED FOR ADJUNCTS)
Professional Development and Pedagogy Advancement:
- Attend professional development opportunities regularly, as required by College Administration.
- Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and conventions of professional associations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess an earned Master’s degree in teaching discipline OR a master’s degree in any subject with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Possess good time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in higher education is preferred
- Related field and/or industry certifications, if applicable
