What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Faculty Instructor position at Lamar State College Orange?
Adjunct Instructors must be qualified and competent to teach applicable courses within the degree and certificate programs. Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend classes. This is not a posting for ONLINE instructors. Classes will be delivered at Texas State University in San Marcos or another TXST site.
We are currently seeking faculty for the following subjects/programs:
- Construction Management
- Hospitality
- Graphic Design
- Cyber Security/IT
- Science
- Math
- Humanities
- Teach courses at Texas State University in San Marcos or another TXST site as scheduled and actively engage with students in the learning process.
- Provide feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
- Complete required training, such as Blackboard Online Instructor Certification and Title IX Training, etc.
- Take advantage of the professional development opportunities offered by LSCO and Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Faculty Development Trainings to continually refine and improve professional knowledge and teaching skills.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures contained in LSCO’s Policies and Procedures Manuals Other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- For Core Curriculum, you must possess an earned Master’s degree in teaching discipline OR a master’s degree in any subject with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline
- For Technical AAS Programs, you must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in teaching discipline OR a Bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 12 undergraduate hours in the teaching discipline OR an Associate's degree with 3 years of working experience in the field
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Possess good time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in higher education is preferred
- Related field and/or industry certifications, if applicable
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
