JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide installation, maintenance, and technical support for all computers, devices, and related technology systems at the Career and Technical Education Center. Support daily campus operations, specialized CTE program equipment, and technology needs for the campus Special Events Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Quickly respond to issues and requests related to district hardware and software.
- Provide excellent support and customer services to students and staff at the Career and Technical Education Center.
- Document issues, requests, and solutions via the approved ticketing system.
- Document solutions for customers and support staff via the approved knowledge base.
- Follow through with customer inquiries, requests, and concerns. Escalate complex and non-routine questions or requests to the appropriate level for resolution.
- Pickup and deliver equipment as required.
- Perform diagnostics and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Make recommendations for technology equipment and supplies.
- Ensure all district computers remain in good working order by performing scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Maintain service parts and daily service records.
- Install new and upgraded software packages on district computers.
- Provide software support for users of district-supported applications.
- Provide consulting services for any department expressing a desire or need for applications running on a district computer.
- Ensure the integrity of the equipment and data stored on district computers by instructing users of proper handling of the equipment and establishing data backup procedures.
- Support specialized technology and equipment used in CTE instructional programs (e.g., labs, industry-specific systems, and classroom technology).
- Coordinate with program instructors to ensure proper setup, maintenance, and functionality of program-specific hardware and software.
- Provide technical support for events hosted in the campus Special Events Center including audio/visual systems, presentation technology, and connectivity and device support.
- Correct unsafe conditions that may exist in the work area that could cause an accident. Any conditions that are not correctable by you are to be reported to the supervisor immediately.
- Know and practice the proper safety procedures in operating machinery and equipment as required for the job.
- Know and practice safety techniques in lifting, climbing, and performing other job duties.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience:
- Customer service experience via in-person support, call-center support, and written support (emails and tickets) preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent job-related training and 2 years of work related experience
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification preferred
- A certification preferred
- Valid Texas driver's license (appropriate type or class)
- Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Working knowledge of PC compatible computer hardware
- Working knowledge of Windows Family of Operating Systems
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
OTHER INFORMATION:
Equipment Used
Uses test equipment, equipment without covers, mobile equipment cart, copy machine, computer, and audiovisual equipment.

Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling (intermittent), repeated bending (intermittent), operation of motor vehicle, specific visual requirements (reading directions, equipment operation, parts book, schematics), ability to distinguish basic colors (color coded wire), specific hearing requirements (oral and phone conversations, noise awareness).
Outside and inside, excessive humidity, excessive dampness or chilling, dust; fumes, smoke, or gases; solvents (degreasing agents), grease and oils, electrical energy, works around machinery with moving parts, works around moving objects or vehicles, working with hands in water.
