Assistant Cheer Coach
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant High School Cheer Coach supports the Head Coach in training, skill development, routine building, and managing the cheer program, focusing on teaching fundamentals, ensuring safety, leading practices/games, handling logistics (uniforms, travel), organizing tryouts, fundraising, and fostering positive team spirit and sportsmanship, working closely with athletic department staff.
Must be a current LCISD teacher
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching & Instruction: Teach proper cheer techniques, stunting, tumbling, and choreography; lead practices and supervise during games/events.
- Team Management: Maintain discipline, promote sportsmanship, and manage team logistics like transportation and equipment.
- Administrative Support: Assist with tryouts, scheduling, communication with parents, uniform orders, and fundraising activities.
- Program Development: Help the Head Coach plan seasons, develop routines, and meet school/athletic department goals.
- Safety: Implement safety protocols, document injuries, and ensure a safe environment for all athletes, potentially requiring First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications & Skills
- Holds a valid Teaching Certification
- Previous coaching or competitive cheer experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with diverse student groups, parents, and staff
- Basic computer/social media skills
- Physical ability to demonstrate skills and lift equipment
