Duties
- Perform detailed cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas using approved cleaning agents and equipment.
- Ensure all surfaces, floors, fixtures, and equipment are sanitized according to hospital protocols and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
- Handle waste disposal safely by removing trash and biohazard materials in compliance with sanitation regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness of specialized areas such as surgical suites or isolation rooms with attention to infection control procedures.
- Use floor care equipment for stripping, waxing, polishing, and buffing floors to uphold a professional appearance.
- Restock supplies like paper towels, soap dispensers, and other essentials to ensure continuous availability.
- Document cleaning activities accurately and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
Requirements
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare or commercial environments preferred; hospital experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to workplace safety and sanitation practices.
- Experience with environmental services procedures including cleaning, sanitation, and floor care techniques.
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as floor buffers or extractors safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and report issues clearly.
