Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Project Leader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery and equipment on construction sites, performing landscape construction duties. The ideal candidate will possess a strong working mechanical knowledge and have experience in operating various types of equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks, possess the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, vendors and other employees verbally and in writing, and manage company resources on projects both small and large, in addition to possessing strong knowledge in the areas of landscape construction, horticulture, and maintenance.
This role will feature hybrid duties and responsibilities of a working project manager and landscape construction foreman, with the incumbent directly responsible for facilitating workflow of projects from start to finish and working in conjunction with company owner to bring aboard that work. Our business model is built upon repeat business with existing clients who appreciate clear and through communication at all times, and as such, we are seeking a candidate who can perform high quality work and communicate directly with clients on the progress and status of their work. Employer will be exceptionally selective of candidates for this position and vetting will be both thorough and rigorous to ensure responsibilities and expectations are documented, understood, and mutually agreeable from the outset. Position will feature flexible working hours for the right candidate and position can be seasonal in nature, if desired and mutually agreed upon. Candidate for this role will be expected to self-manage and self-direct at all times and possess the ambition and firm commitment to company goals. Winter work is available, if desired. Pay scale and compensation as indicated in job description provides range of pay based on skills, fit for the position, and abilities as determined in the interview process. 60 day trial working period will be in effect for all candidates for this position to determine appropriate fitment for the role and ability to execute duties as expected and ongoing quarterly evaluations will be a requirement of the job thereafter.
Duties
- Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, front loaders, bulldozers, and dump trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Safely transport materials using dump trucks and other heavy machinery.
- Collaborate with other employees to execute project plans effectively.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations while working on construction sites.
- Assist in building structures and performing site preparation tasks as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
- Communicate with clients regarding all aspects of project before, during, and after completion of work.
- Communicate and coordinate with other team members as necessary to facilitate completion of work.
- Perform stone masonry tasks including but not limited to: dry laid wall construction, natural stone and paver walkway and patio installation, modular block wall construction.
- Perform planting tasks including but not limited to: tree and shrub installation, perennial and garden installation.
- Construct roads and trails as necessary for site access to work areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Proficient in excavator and skidsteer operation and general heavy equipment operation.
- Finish grading skills are critically important to this role.
- Experience with commercial driving and transporting materials safely.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety standards.
- Ability to operate various types of trucks including dump trucks and backing trailers.
- Identification of appropriate drainage techniques for various soil and site conditions.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
- Attention to detail to ensure high-quality work output.
- Stone masonry skills required.
- Horticulture knowledge required.
- CDL Class A preferred but not required.
- Landscape design experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication proficiency as well as a firm grasp of grammatical and written conventions required.
- Ability to conduct clear and concise communications at a high level required.
- Strong leadership capabilities required.
