Position Summary:
Novus Foods is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented EHS Specialist to support our Environmental Health & Safety programs at our Buena Park, CA food manufacturing facility. This position plays a key role in promoting a safe, compliant, and proactive safety culture on-site. The Safety Coordinator will assist in implementing safety initiatives, providing training, and supporting day-to-day EHS operations. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with 1–3 years of safety experience looking to grow with a stable, industry-leading company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing and monitoring site-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of production areas, equipment, and employee practices to identify and correct hazards.
- Support incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and help develop and track corrective actions.
- Conduct and document safety training sessions, including new hire orientation and ongoing compliance training (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, PPE, etc.).
- Maintain accurate safety records, including training logs, inspection reports, SDS library, and incident reports.
- Actively engage with production staff to reinforce safe behaviors and build a strong safety culture.
- Support emergency response planning and drills.
- Participate in the site safety committee and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the management of environmental programs, including stormwater SARA Title III
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations to ensure safety is integrated into daily processes.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of safety experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus – strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations, safety audits, and compliance documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with incident tracking software a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to train, coach, and influence others.
- Wastewater operations or environmental compliance experience is a plus.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
