Summary
The Regulatory Scientist at Novus Foods will play a key role in ensuring that our food products are compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements in the U.S. and international markets. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams — including R&D, Quality Assurance, Operations, Marketing, and Legal — to support product development, labeling, claims substantiation, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle. The Regulatory Scientist serves as the internal expert on food regulations and acts as a liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders to facilitate approvals and maintain compliance.Duties and Responsibilities
- Acquire ingredient documents from suppliers and update Esha Genesis and our internal systems.
- Work in close cooperation with R&D, QA, Marketing, Sales, External Suppliers, and Purchasing via e-mail and phone to support various regulatory initiatives.
- Create new and update current nutrition facts and ingredient statements based on R&D formulas using Esha Genesis.
- Review labels based on FDA CFR requirements, 3rd party certification requirements and our internal requirements.
- Work with multiple customer web platforms to input new product information gathered from R&D, QA, Marketing, and Sales while utilizing acquired knowledge of our products, procedures, policies, and plant locations.
- Stay up to date on regulations and marketplace trends.
Qualifications
- Experience with Esha Genesis
- Experience working for a food manufacturing company
- Knowledge of FDA CFR labeling requirements, experience in regulatory is preferred
- Detail oriented, meticulous, organized
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
- Excel, Word, Outlook knowledge, computer savvy, ability to learn navigating multiple web platforms to input and retrieve information
- Detailed record keeping of updating ingredient documents to update Genesis and our storage system
- Ability to request information internally and to outside organizations and review documentation
