Summary
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for keeping machines in good working conditions to enhance efficiency and prevent malfunctions that could lead to costly repairs. To do this, the associate is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, preventive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Create and manage work orders in L2L, conducting necessary maintenance or repairs as needed.
· Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
· Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
· Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
· Basic electrical troubleshooting, including replacement of three phase motors.
· Installation of equipment and piping; setting up production lines.
· Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic devices and hydraulic systems. Rebuilding gearboxes and drives.
· Repair and troubleshooting of filling lines.
· Repair machines, equipment or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
· Maintain constant communication with Plant Management regarding any maintenance issues that may arise so that Plant Management can adjust their production schedule accordingly.
· Assist in the setup and teardown of machines and equipment at beginning and end of shifts.
· Liaise with Production and Quality departments to ensure highest level of quality is achieved after any intervention and throughout the working life of equipment.
· Provides feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation. Recommends, supports and implements continuous improvement activities, processes, and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery.
· Use Reference Resources such as “work books and drawings”, technical manuals, understanding of industrial equipment, and careful observation to discover the cause of a problem
· Proactively identify, assess and determine appropriate controls for Safety related issues; influence other associates to identify and resolve Safety related issues.
· Demonstrates general understanding of industrial safety practices and regulations, and in particular such topics as: Lock-out/Tag-out procedures, Fall protection, Personal protective equipment, and all other mandatory safety procedures related to the job.
· Actively Participates on the Safety Committee.
· Participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions in problem solving projects.
· Adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.
· Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organization in line with good 5S (Sort, t in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practice
· Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures
· Follow all Food Safety/Quality Policies established at the facility. This includes adherence to GFSI certification requirements
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED; (Associate degree, Trade School Certificate and/or Military Technical Training, a plus).
· Minimum of 3 or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry and/or under cGMP regulations.
· Basic skill level in PLC, HVAC and welding
· Knowledge of and experience with food processing machinery.
· Must be mechanically inclined and possess the ability to use all standard tools of the trade; to include but not limited to basic hand and machine tools, various test equipment (as required) and be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and prints, as well as demonstrate the ability to safely and effectively operate basic shop machinery such as hydraulic presses, grinders, lathes, mills, drill presses, welders, jigs and tigs.
· Proficiency in computer (Microsoft Office, Excel) and basic math skills
· Proficient reading, writing and verbal communication skills
· Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable.
· Ability to operate industrial-size equipment safely and efficiently
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and recognized QC (Quality Control) tools
