Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
- Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and handing necessary tools.
- Collect payments, process billing through medical coding systems including CPT and ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and perform insurance verification using systems like Meditech or Epic.
- Maintain accurate and confidential dental records and electronic health records (EHR) management in compliance with HIPAA policies.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, answer patient inquiries, and coordinate appointment reminders.
- Review documentation for accuracy, ensure proper coding for procedures, and support medical billing processes related to Medicare or private insurance claims.
- Perform administrative duties such as filing patient records, managing clinic supplies, and supporting front desk operations with clerical tasks like typing reports and data entry.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental office setting or healthcare environment with familiarity in dental terminology and clinical procedures.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with dental practice management software (Dentrix), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, billing, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and familiarity with health information management policies such as HIPAA.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings preferred.
- Prior clinic or hospital experience demonstrating competence in medical records management and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and medical administrative support roles.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in office management tasks such as filing, scheduling, and handling multi-line phones.
