Position Title: General Maintenance
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Job Status: Part time Temp, Monday – Friday with occasional evening and/or weekend hours

Location: Waconia (primary), Chaska, Norwood, Watertown

Overview:
Supports maintenance team by helping with various tasks and ensuring that repairs, installations, and maintenance projects run smoothly. The role may involve indoor and outdoor work, which can vary depending on the task. Hands-on experience in construction, repair, and maintenance work required.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Maintenance:
- Assist with regular inspections and maintenance of buildings and structures, including flooring, doors, windows, and walls.
- Repair and replace broken fixtures, fittings, and furniture, including repairing leaky faucets, broken windows, and malfunctioning doors.
- Handle minor plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains, fixing leaks, and replacing faucets.
- Electrical Work:
- Replace light bulbs, reset breakers, and low voltage wiring.
- Install or repair lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
- Assist team with troubleshooting electrical issues and ensure safe and proper handling of electrical equipment.
- Carpentry and Woodworking:
- Build, repair, and install wood structures such as shelves, cabinets, and furniture.
- Perform minor repairs to woodwork, such as fixing doors, windows, or cabinets.
- Assist with assembling and disassembling furniture or equipment.
- Painting and Surface Repair:
- Apply paint or other finishes to walls, doors, and other surfaces.
- Patch up holes in walls, ceilings, or floors and prepare surfaces for painting or finishing.
- Sand and refinish furniture or wooden structures when needed.
- Plumbing and Pipe Work:
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures, including sinks and toilets.
- Fix leaks, unclog drains, and ensure proper water flow and drainage systems.
- HVAC Maintenance:
- Assist with basic maintenance on HVAC systems, such as replacing filters or cleaning ducts and heating or cooling system issues, ensuring they are functioning properly.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensuring that the work area is tidy and free of potential safety hazards.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures when handling tools, materials, or working in potentially hazardous conditions.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certifications are a plus).
- Proven experience as a Handyman or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools for various tasks.
- Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs in multiple areas.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or training in specific trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, or carpentry).
- Experience in handling construction or renovation projects.
- Knowledge of basic HVAC maintenance.
Work Environment:
- Work can be physically demanding, requiring lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- The job may involve irregular hours or on-call work, depending on the needs.
Physical Demands:
· Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, and speaking.
· Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed.
· Frequent use of computer, keyboard, phone, copy and fax machines.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $20-$25 per hour
Compensation decisions are made based off several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification, and licensure as well as internal equity.
