Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Lakeview Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our nursing team. We are looking for a dependable long-term team member who is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with providers and clinical staff to deliver high-quality client care.

This position plays an important role in supporting outpatient mental health, co-occurring, and substance use disorder services. Responsibilities include medication coordination, prescription refills, prior authorizations, medication administration, medication ordering and inventory management, client and pharmacy communication. This position also coordinates care with internal and external providers to support continuity of client care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide medical services within the scope of certification/licensure, including medication administration, obtaining vital signs, client monitoring and observation, and care coordination.
• Receive, assess, and respond to non-emergent client calls regarding medications, symptoms, and medical concerns; document appropriately and coordinate follow-up with providers as needed.
• Process prescription refill requests, medication prior authorizations, and medication-related documentation.
• Communicate professionally with clients, providers, pharmacies, insurance companies, laboratories, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate client care.
• Order, receive, inventory, store, reconcile, and maintain medications and medical supplies while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Support psychiatric providers by preparing for client appointments, coordinating medication-related needs, assisting with medication management and injections (if applicable), and providing clinical support within scope of practice.
• Assist with medication administration and client monitoring for specialized behavioral health treatments in accordance with certification/licensure, training, company policies, and applicable regulations.
• Monitor and support compliance with Minnesota 245G standards, applicable healthcare regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
• Assist with development, review, and implementation of medical policies, procedures, and clinical workflows as assigned.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and therapeutic clinical environment.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and community education or outreach as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing, as applicable.
• Current CPR/BLS certification or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients experiencing mental health and substance use disorders while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Strong communication, organizational, customer service, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
• Ability to pass a Minnesota DHS/NETStudy background study.

Preferred Experience

• One (1) or more years of experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, primary care, or other outpatient medical settings.
• Experience processing prescription refills and medication prior authorizations.
• Experience communicating with pharmacies and insurance companies and other healthcare professionals regarding medication-related issues.
• Experience administering injectable medications and monitoring clients following medication administration.
• Experience managing medication inventory, ordering, storage, and reconciliation.
• Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Familiarity with Minnesota 245G regulations is preferred.
