Salary: $450 total (1 day onsite training and 3 days of camp)
Position Summary: This position will work with leadership from the Lakeside Association and Because I said I Would, the global accountability movement founded by Alex Sheen — to launch Teen Resiliency camps this summer. Through an engaging, trauma-informed and supportive environment, youth and teens will develop practical tools and healthy mental habits that strengthen emotional resilience and personal integrity. Day camp counselors will be responsible for a small group of campers throughout the duration of the camp. Mandatory training will be provided virtually before the start of camp. One day of on-site training will be provided. Camp runs from 8:00am – 3:00pm, June 10-12, 2026. Lunch will be provided on camp days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (to include other duties as assigned)
- Arrive by 7:00am to ensure common spaces are ready and to help set-up for any activities.
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for all campers.
- Guide campers to ensure timely attendance at all activities.
- Support campers to encourage participation.
- Handle all incidents immediately and appropriately.
- General supervision of all campers throughout the duration of the camp.
Education & Experience:
Education/Certifications:
- Preferred: Active licensure or certification in a field related to education or mental health (e.g., teaching, counseling, social work, psychology)
- Preferred: CPR/First Aid certified
- Preferred: Abuse Prevention Training (can provide if needed)
Experience:
- Required: Experience leading a group of teenage youth independently
- Preferred: Experience in education, mental health, or nonprofit program delivery
- Preferred: Overnight supervisory experience of youth
- Preferred: Experience in trauma-informed care
Qualifications:
To successfully perform the duties of this position, the employee must be extremely detail oriented, possess strong problem-solving and communication skills, function well independently as well as in a team environment, and display strong sense of initiative and work ethic. Employee must have experience supervising and leading youth independently.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to lift/roll/move up to 25 lbs. Employee may be exposed to wet, cold, humid, hot conditions and may be required to work outdoors. Employee may need to traverse stairs and inclines. These characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
