Role Description The Ophthalmic Technician will perform a variety of clinical and technical tasks to support eye care providers and research activities in a full-time, on-site role in Irvine, CA. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, performing diagnostic tests, obtaining detailed medical and ocular histories, and assisting with clinical procedures. The technician will conduct imaging such as fundus photography, accurately document examination findings as a scribe, and ensure proper use and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment. The role also involves coordinating patient flow, reinforcing provider instructions to patients, adhering to clinical protocols, and supporting data collection for ongoing research studies.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in eye care disciplines, including Optometry and Ophthalmology, with the ability to support clinical and research activities.
- Experience performing Fundus Photography and other ophthalmic diagnostic tests, with attention to image quality and patient comfort.
- Competence in medical scribing, including accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, histories, and clinical findings.
- General knowledge of Medicine relevant to ocular health, with the ability to understand and follow clinical instructions and protocols.
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician in a clinic or research setting preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly with patients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards.
