Salary: The salary range for the position is: Min. $1,530 Max. $2,720. Salary placement will be at Step 0 of the Coaches Agreement unless documentation of experiences received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary schedule can be reviewed from the human resources page on the Nine Mile Falls School District website - www.9mile.org. Classified, substitute staff that would be in an overtime situation (more than 40 hours per week in cumulative work hours) if they receive this position, may not be eligible for this position.

Nature and Scope of Position
The 1st Assistant 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach plays a key role in helping middle school athletes grow their basketball knowledge, work ethic, and teamwork skills. This position supports the Head Coach in creating a competitive yet supportive program through focused skill development, structured practice routines, and character-based coaching that aligns with WIAA standards and district expectations for safety, supervision, and student success.
Primary Job Functions
- Assist the 7th Grade Head Coach with all aspects of the boys basketball program, including planning and leading practices, drills, and conditioning.
- Teach and reinforce basketball fundamentals appropriate for middle school athletes, including footwork, ball-handling, shooting mechanics, and team concepts.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and integrity at all times—on and off the court.
- Supervise student-athletes to ensure a safe environment and adherence to WIAA, district, and program standards.
- Help maintain athlete eligibility, communication, attendance, and basic program records.
- Support equipment care, gym setup, and organizational needs for practices and games.
- Assist in reinforcing behavior expectations, academic responsibility, and positive character development.
- Represent Lakeside Middle School and the district with professionalism, positivity, and integrity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- WSP/FBI fingerprint clearance.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to season).
- High school graduate or GED completion.
- High school students may serve as volunteer assistant coaches if they meet WIAA minimum coaching requirements and hold valid First Aid/CPR certification.
- Ability to obtain required WIAA coaching clock hours.
- Knowledge of safe and effective coaching techniques for middle school athletes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to sportsmanship and positive athlete relationships.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience coaching or assisting in basketball at the school, youth, or club level.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and teach young athletes in a constructive, age-appropriate manner.
- Ability to foster teamwork, resilience, and personal growth in student-athletes.
- Commitment to helping develop a consistent and competitive boys basketball program at Lakeside Middle School.
