Salary: The salary range for the position is: Min. $3,103 Max. $4,015. Salary placement will be at Step 0 of the Coaches Agreement unless documentation of experiences received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary schedule can be reviewed from the human resources page on the Nine Mile Falls School District website - www.9mile.org. Classified, substitute staff that would be in an overtime situation (more than 40 hours per week in cumulative work hours) if they receive this position, may not be eligible for this position.

Nature and Scope of Position
The 1st Assistant Softball Coach plays an essential role in supporting the Head Coach in developing a competitive and character-driven high school softball program. This position helps design and lead effective practices, strengthen individual and team skills, and create an environment where athletes learn accountability, teamwork, and resilience while upholding WIAA rules, district expectations, and the highest standards of sportsmanship and safety.
Primary Job Functions
- Assist the Head Coach with organizing and leading practices, drills, and conditioning sessions.
- Teach and reinforce core softball skills including hitting, fielding, throwing, base running, and position-specific development.
- Promote positive sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and character within the program.
- Supervise student-athletes to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Support game strategy, situational decision-making, and bench management.
- Communicate team expectations, schedules, and rules clearly to athletes.
- Assist with equipment management, field preparation, and program logistics.
- Help maintain athlete eligibility, attendance, and other required records.
- Represent Lakeside High School and the district with professionalism and integrity.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- WSP/FBI fingerprint clearance
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to the season)
- Ability to obtain required WIAA coaching clock hours
- Successful coaching experience at the secondary, collegiate, or club level
- Knowledge of safe, effective coaching techniques appropriate for high school softball
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to sportsmanship, student safety, and high-quality athlete development
Desired Qualifications
- Experience motivating, teaching, and mentoring young athletes.
- Experience developing character, teamwork, and life skills through athletics.
- Successful experience in coaching basketball at the school, club, or community level.
- Ability to contribute to the growth and long-term strength of the middle school basketball program.
