Barista

Lakes Fika is a growing Coffee Shop Cafe Mercantile just outside of Cormorant Village in Lake Park, MN.

We are looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team! We have one year-round position available and seasonal positions available.

As a Barista and Kitchen Team Member, you will be living out the essence of “Fika” by providing outstanding customer service and hand crafted menu items that are integral to a customer’s one of a kind experience.

For decades, folks have retreated to the lake to enjoy a slower pace of living in a calm and scenic environment. There is one word that closely resembles this lake life culture and that is the Swedish word “Fika”. Fika (fee-ka) is an intentional pause, spent with friends or family, while enjoying coffee & treats. It can be a noun (Let’s have a Fika) or a verb (Do you want to Fika?). This philosophy is the heart of Lakes Fika. It’s about taking a moment to enjoy the blessing of fellowship and to cherish life’s simple pleasures.

Our working hours are currently from about 7:30AM to about 3:30PM Wednesdays-Saturdays from about 8:30AM to about 2:30PM Sundays in the summer and Wednesday-Saturday from fall-spring. Candidate must have some weekend availability.

Barista positions may include responsibilities such as: operating point of sale, meal prepping, crafting unique drinks and coffee, washing dishes, being committed to food safety, high standards for food presentation in a fast paced environment, stocking, light cleaning, following established recipes to maintain consistency and quality, precision ingredient measurements, willingness to fulfill all kitchen duties as needed, and being attentive to customer needs. Candidate must have some weekend availability. Previous experience is helpful but not necessary-we are ready to teach the right candidate!

Helpful skills may include working well with a team, self starter and able to meet goals with minimal oversight, enjoy the hustle and bustle of the hospitality industry, strong organization and time management skills, eagerness to learn, capable to stand long hours, lift heavy boxes, work in hot kitchens, high attention to detail, strong culinary basics, POS knowledge, customer service, and dependability.
