Recreation Therapy Assistant - Part-Time (Weekend Days) - BH Program Admin

Under the direction of our board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, we also provide services to adolescents who require mental health treatment. Work Schedule: Saturday & Sunday; 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Work Hours per Biweekly Pay Period: 48.00

Shift Time: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Location: Behavioral Health, Medical Center - Lakeland, FL

Pay: $16.44 per hour applicable shift differentials

Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Recreation Therapist in providing activities for mental health and chemically dependent patients as a part of those treatment programs and in accordance with the individual treatment plans. May initiate activity needs evaluation and implement group, individual and family activities under the supervision of the Recreation Therapist. May supervise students and patient care assistants assigned to assist with activities.

* Standard Work Duties: Recreation Therapy Assistant
- Assist with and or identifies patients who need to have a Treatment Plan developed for them.
- Assist with and/or conducts patient activity/ treatment groups, manage patient physical needs of support and direction in completing activities so that patient needs are met.
- Document in the electronic health record regarding patient's participation with therapies provided
- Assists in planning and preparation for in-house special events such as special meals for patients, holiday festivities on unit for patients and in service events on the unit.
- Participates in inventories and the requisitioning of supplies and equipment for departmental operations under the direction of the Recreation Therapist.
- May assist students and patient care assistants assigned to assist with implementation of activities schedule through review of work assignments, review quality of work, provide assistance

Education:
Essential:
* High School or Equivalent
Nonessential:
* Bachelor Degree

Education equivalent experience:
Essential:
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree
Nonessential:
* Degree related to the Behavioral Health field; social work, counseling, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, philosophy, public health

Other information:
Experience Preferred:
- Experience working with mental health and/or substance use individuals
