Our facility is licensed for 910 beds and handles over 200,000 emergency room visits annually, along with 49,000 inpatient admissions, 21,000 surgical cases, 4,000 births, and 101,000 outpatient visits.

Shift : 12 Hour Night Shift every other weekend

Pay Rate : Min $20.75 Mid $25.94 Position Summary

The Equipment Mechanic II position is responsible and accountable for providing and performing a variety of skilled maintenance duties, including inspection, repair and preventive maintenance services to all buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position requires advanced knowledge of facilities systems, equipment and components throughout the hospital and various remote locations.

Standard Work Duties: Equipment Mechanic II
  • Must be focused on the maintenance and repair of all types of facility related equipment, systems, and structures.
  • Must inspect and test equipment including facility components for proper operation and working condition as indicated in preventive maintenance (PM) procedures. This includes completing assigned PM’s by their due date while maintaining complete and proper documentation in the computerized work order management system.
  • Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and building automation systems.
  • Must have familiarity with the Joint Commission, and regulatory agency standards related to utilities systems.
  • Must have knowledge of and skills to repair commercial food production, Industrial generator, cooling tower and chiller systems.
  • Must be able to set up and monitor advanced diagnostic tools such as vibration analysis, electrical voltage and amperage data loggers, flow sensing devices, micrometers, dial indicators, and laser alignment equipment.
  • Must be able to disassemble, diagnose, troubleshoot, and test against specifications, repair, and reassemble various mechanical systems, devices, and or equipment.
  • Must execute the service and advanced repairs to various hospital support systems including the tube system, medical gas outlets, linen equipment, conveyance, and the linen chute system.
  • Must service and make advanced repairs to heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment which includes variable frequency drives, fans, motors, thermostats, dampers, and regulating controls. This also includes replacement of filters and fluids as necessary while maintaining routine records of repairs.
  • Must perform routine and advanced electrical maintenance, re-lamping, ballast replacements, alteration of circuit wiring, switch replacements, variable frequency drive replacement and reprograming.
  • Must perform advanced plumbing maintenance, associated with potable, reverse osmosis, soft water, chemical delivery, and sanitary water systems and fixtures.
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics pertaining to health care systems and buildings.
  • Must monitor and respond to alerts on equipment and adjust or repair as needed.
  • Must be able to help leadership review and guide basic standard work procedures to follow O.S.H.A. safety guidelines.
  • Must be able to perform training of equipment functionality and repair methods to appropriate facilities staff with an emphasis on Safety and Proper Personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Must perform any other duties as assigned by leadership to fulfill basic patient and staff needs to maintain safety and functionality of all hospital systems and work requests.
  • Must complete required documentation to meet regulatory agency requirements including all work orders, preventive maintenance, inspection and testing records.
  • Must immediately address various malfunctioning equipment issues and communicate the work effort required to repair.


Competencies & Skills

Essential:

  • Must be able to adapt to a variety of changing duties as required to support all departments in the hospital and off-site facilities.
  • Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of OSHA safety practices.
  • Must demonstrate advanced use of electronic diagnostic tools, hand tools and power tools related to facility equipment repair.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the applicable codes, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing trades.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical, electrical and plumbing troubleshooting techniques including the ability to perform preventative maintenance, routine servicing and repair of that equipment.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of hospital support systems.
  • Must have knowledge of Infection Control Risk Assessment (I.C.R.A.) and Interim Life Safety Measures (I.L.S.M.) which include proper documentation for both.
  • Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of hospital or large commercial facility systems.
Nonessential:
  • Local, State and Federal regulatory compliance knowledge.
  • The calibration and commissioning of various mechanical systems.
  • Welding and soldering abilities.


Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • High School or Equivalent

Essential:

  • Trade School graduate or 12th grade education.


Other information:
Experience Essential:

• A minimum of six (6) years of experience in comparable trade work is required.
• Large commercial facility or healthcare maintenance experience.
Experience Preferred:
• State license in Electrical, H.V.A.C. mechanical, or Plumbing.
• Trade school certification in Electrical, H.V.A.C. mechanical, or Plumbing

Licenses Essential: Valid Drivers license
Licenses Preferred: Technical or Trade licensure
Certifications Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
