Position Summary


Performs tests which include EEG, evoked potential (VER, BAER, somato-sensory, and infant hearing screening), Intracranial Doppler, and surgical EEG monitoring. The EEG Tech II/Registered works within the scope of the American Society of EEG Technology guidelines while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The EEG Tech II/Registered contributes to positive patient outcomes and meeting the cultural expectations of the organization by exhibiting professional behavior and EEG expertise.

  • Standard Work: EEG Tech II/Registered
  • Develops and maintains EEG Department services consistent with patient needs, so that physician satisfaction, federal/state regulations, and JACHO standards are followed. Obtains clear and readable EEG tracings, audio, visual and somatosensory evoked potential studies and infant hearing screens which may include: measuring the head, obtaining medical history and preparing the client so that the neurologist interpretation of testing is optimized.
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement in own clinical competence in all of the following areas of care of the patient so that optimum patient outcomes are achieved. a.) Demonstrates continuous improvement in clinical competencies identified by the department/center b.) Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient as evidenced by documentation of age-specific competencies.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians and other team members and reports significant findings in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment and technology necessary to complete duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintains the integrity of the neurodiagnostic lab: checks daily inventory of supplies and replenishes supplies when necessary; cleans and prepares testing lab prior to patient use; checks calibration of equipment; ensures equipment is maintained and clean this
  • Demonstrates appropriate behaviors that focus on patient and customer satisfaction so that patient and customer expectations are exceeded.
  • Develops a personal development plan at the beginning of all probationary periods and within the first three months of each fiscal year. and provides a copy to the Department Manager so that opportunities for improvement are identified. Documents continued progress toward identified goals. Holds self and others accountable for adherence to defined behaviors and provides appropriate constructive feedback to team members to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Performs Intracranial Doppler studies and assists in teaching fellow EEG staff the indications, initial patient set-up, procedure, waveforms, and reporting functions of Intracranial Doppler procedures
  • Demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge and expertise in the performance of Intracranial Doppler procedures.

    Essential:

    • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of employees, leaders at various levels, physicians and other customers.
    • Communicates proactively to prevent problems. Negotiates effectively to resolve conflict.
    • High level of knowledge of EEG, Intracranial Doppler, and all other department specific testing; computer skills (for diagnostic equipment dictation and transcription skills, scheduling, and other business applications).
    • Ability to train and mentor other staff re: the performance of Intracranial Doppler studies.


    Qualifications & Experience


    Essential:

    High School or Equivalent

    Essential:

    Completion of an accredited Electroencephalographic program.

    Essential:

    • Basic Cardiac Life Support
    • Registered Technologist

    Other information:
    Licenses Essential: Registration with American Society of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ASET).
    Experience Essential: Minimum of eight years of experience in EEG, including at least five years performing Intracranial Doppler studies.
